Primex ehf is an Icelandic marine biotechnology company and a global leader in the sustainable production of a high-quality chitosan. Primex also markets products under the brand names ChitoClear® and LipoSan Ultra®.
Primex is located in Siglufjörður, North Iceland, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. The pristine waters of the North Atlantic surround the island, where warm water brought up by the Gulf Stream mixes with the cold Arctic waters from the North Pole, to create fruitful conditions for rich plant and animal life. The source of our pure chitosan is the shell of North Atlantic Coldwater Shrimp (Pandalus borealis) due to its aptitude as a raw material for high quality chitosan production.
Since 1999, Primex has been running a state-of-the-art plant for chitin and chitosan manufacture in Siglufjörður, Iceland. Equipped with modern, sophisticated and computerized technology, our chitosan factory is able to deliver consistent product quality all year around.
Primex is proud to announce that the company was awarded “The Icelandic Innovation Award” for 2012. This award is given by The Icelandic Centre for Research-Rannis, Promote Iceland, Innovation Centre Iceland and The New Business Venture Fund to a company that has surpassed all others in development of a product or a service that is based on science and research and has been successful in the marketplace. Special attention is on young innovative companies whose business model is based on creative technique and ideas with great demand on science and knowledge.
