ChitoCare® Medical Devices: Scar Healing Gel

ChitoCare® Medical Scar Healing Gel

ChitoCare® Medical Scar Healing Gel is a topical gel for the treatment of new and old scars. It provides a soothing effect and support to the scar tissue to heal in an orderly manner. It protects against infections, stimulates cell proliferation in old and new scars, as well as correct tissue organization with proper collagen alignment for a better aesthetic appearance and skin flexibility.

Ideal for treating scars after accidents, surgery, C-section and cosmetic surgery. For smoother and less visible scars. It can be applied to any skin area or scar, forming a thin, transparent and breathable film. The chitosan film formed does not need to be removed as it will slowly be degraded during natural skin renewal.

Why chitosan?

Chitosan is a functional polysaccharide providing support for wound healing. Under mild acidic conditions it becomes positively charged, rendering it bioadhesive to adhere as a protective film to intact or breached skin and to confer many other important biological properties.

Chitosan has a very good barrier function, as on damaged skin it creates a thin, breathable film, which with mechanical protection prevents skin (or wound) dehydration and contamination, protecting it from the external environment, while allowing oxygen to reach the wound for optimal healing.

Chitosan is a true wonder of the ocean, as it protects the skin, reduces redness and irritation with its cooling effect, maintains moisture and promotes the skin's natural repair process.

Biocompatible, easy to use and safe

ChitoCare® Medical Scar Healing Gel is a safe product and has shown no negative side-effects. Although the main ingredient is chitosan sourced from shrimp shells, even patients with shellfish allergies have had no adverse reactions after use.

The Scar Healing Gel is easy to use and, as it comes in gel form, it can be applied to any skin defects or wound surface. It promotes natural skin healing and is bioadhesive allowing the gel to adhere to the skin surface, either intact or breached, forming a protective film.

It can be stored at room temperature, however storing it in the fridge enhances its cooling effect. It is suitable for use by the whole family, including children and the elderly.
